Piercing FAQ – everything you need to know from our piercer
Piercing is a great way to express your style, but many people have lots of questions before getting one. How long does it take to heal? Does it hurt? And can I get a ring in my nostril right away? Our experienced piercer answers these and other frequently asked questions.
1.Can I get a ring in my nostril right away?
No, we recommend starting with a stud. A ring can cause more irritation and prolong the healing process. It can also get caught more easily and lead to injury. It’s best to let the piercing heal with the right jewelry first and switch to a ring later—usually after 6-8 months, but healing time varies from person to person.
2.How long does a piercing take to heal?
The healing time depends on the location of the piercing and your aftercare. For example:
- Earlobe: 1-2 months
- Cartilage (helix, tragus): 6-8 months
- Nostril: 6-8 months
- Septum: 2-4 months
- Navel: 6 months to a year
Proper hygiene and careful handling are essential for fast and trouble-free healing.
3.Does it hurt a lot?
Everyone has a different pain threshold, but most people describe it as a quick, stinging sensation that lasts just a few seconds. The most painful moment is when the needle goes through the skin, but the pain fades quickly. If you’re nervous, try focusing on steady breathing—it really helps!
4.When can I change my jewelry?
It’s important to wait until the piercing is fully healed. The healing times vary:
- Earlobe: 1-2 months
- Cartilage (helix, tragus): 6-8 months
- Nostril: 6-8 months
- Septum: 2-4 months
- Navel: 6 months to a year
Changing the jewelry too soon can cause irritation, infection, or even closure of the piercing. If you’re unsure whether your piercing is healed, visit us for a check-up!
5.How should I take care of my piercing?
Proper aftercare is essential for quick and trouble-free healing. We recommend:
✔ Cleaning the piercing twice a day with saline solution or a special antiseptic.
✔ Not touching it with dirty hands.
✔ Avoiding twisting or pulling the jewelry.
✔ Staying away from pools, saunas, and cosmetics around the piercing.
